Inaugural Gatorverse Hackathon Draws 17 Participants

On April 12–13, 2025, the ACM student chapter hosted the first-ever Gatorverse Hackathon — a 48-hour event held in Alden Hall that brought together 17 participants across ten interdisciplinary teams.

What Happened

Teams spent the weekend building technology prototypes, supported by workshops throughout the event and guidance from alumni mentors who joined to advise and encourage participants. The interdisciplinary makeup of teams meant projects drew on perspectives from across the college — not just computing majors.

Support the Next One

The department’s “Sustain. Attain. Train.” fundraising campaign is seeking $15,000 to support the Gatorverse Hackathon, student-driven projects, and Code with Chompers outreach. Recurring donations help sustain these initiatives year over year. Reach out at cis@allegheny.edu to learn how to contribute.
