Computer Science Summer Internship in New York City

Adrian K. Wagner a 1992 graduate of Allegheny College and Director of Forensics at the James Mintz Group, is currently in the process of searching for a summer intern, as well as a new hire for their rapidly expanding department. The James Mintz Group is a large multi-national private investigation firm headquartered in Manhattan, NY

The James Mintz Group collects and prepares various types of electronic evidence (email, hard drives, storage devices of various types, cell phones, PDA's, automobile control units) as evidence in criminal and civil matters. Their clients include large public companies, commercial banks and trading houses, police departments, state attorneys offices, and private citizens. The types of cases they work on often involve fraud, options backdating, theft of trade secrets, insider trading, as well as the occasional drug, child abduction, or theft case. The working environment is fast paced and exciting, very high pressure and detail oriented, with new and different challenges every day.

The ideal candidates are students with exceptionally good hardware knowledge, as well as experience in networking and or programming. James Mintz will provide training in the processes of evidence preservation, documentation, and collection, as well as analysis using EnCase, Forensic Tool Kit, Paraben Device Seizure, or similar, and the preparation of reports and affidavits for the court. Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail are crucial as an investigator’s affidavit to court, is often a pivotal piece of testimony. It is important that the facts are represented completely, accurately, and with appropriate documentation. Personal maturity and the ability to work well under pressure are also very important.

The internship is paid hourly, and the entry level forensic analyst position is a salaried with benefits.
